We’re in the midst of a bit of a heat wave here, but even after several weeks of temperatures hovering around 30C and no rain the fields are still looking remarkably lush. The scrape has dried out, but the grass is still damp and ditches flowing. Butterflies have now joined the dragonflies and little egrets and marsh harriers have been seen using the meadows.
Just as the latest hot weather was beginning in mid-June, a friend of mine kindly went down and took some pictures (he’s a far better photographer than me). He also managed to get a few aerial shots using his drone, which I have posted below (all images by Sandy Watt).
